Redeeming Jack-new book out today :)
Friday, September 21st, 2012 4 Comments »

I’m excited to tell you all that I have a new book out today called Redeeming Jack, which is the second part of the Regency historical series I’m self-publishing. The first was Educating Elizabeth.

Here’s the blurb :)

Disowned and disinherited by his aristocratic family, Jack Llewelyn survives on his wits and his ability to nurse officers returning from the Napoleonic Wars. He is prepared to go to any lengths to clear his name, but fate, and the Duke of Diable Delamere, have different plans for Jack. Soon, he will be hunting a missing spy, discovering old family secrets, and risking his life pursuing a woman who has changed beyond recognition Only then will he be able to face his lost love, ask her forgiveness and finally deserve his very happy ending.

I love this story which is very old-skool romance with a big plot, misunderstandings, smugglers, spies and beautiful feisty ladies.

It will eventually be available through all the digital outlet and is currently already up on kindle! at $4.99

Apparently, I’m big in Canada-and next to ‘that book’

A friend of mine snapped this picture of Simply Carnal in a Canadian Walmart! Originally, I didn’t even know they had Walmart in Canada or that they would sell such explicit books!! But I’m smiling. :)

More thoughts about Simply Voracious :) and what’s to come next.

Sometimes I think it is interesting to post after a book came out about how I came to write it and what I felt about the characters etc by the end. Simply Voracious ended up being a slightly different book for me. It is quite long, about 93,000 words but even after all that, I still felt that by the end I was just setting the new relationship off rather than giving them their complete Happy Ever After.

I have no idea why that happened ;-) , except that I felt these characters, Paul, Lucky and Constantine were lovely people who had all ended up in a situation that they hadn’t quite expected, and were almost all at different points in their individual love stories. That meant even getting them to a point where they decided to commit to each other took a while. :) So I suppose, it is more of a story about people falling in love and less about their sexual kink. That’s not going to make everyone happy, but sometimes you just have to write the book the way the characters seem to need it and not how you first envisioned it in your mind.

I love this one because it’s a little less angsty-I know shocking!! but as, I said, these people just turned out to be remarkably kind to each other and willing to do whatever it took to make the others happy. That made me smile when I was writing. :) I didn’t even really see them as a threesome until I got close to writing Paul’s book, although Lucky soon proved to me as a character that she had all the strength and love and understanding to deal with Paul. She’s Constantine’s mirror image.

I put my Simply’s in two distinct categories :) There are the shocking angsty ones like Sexual, Sinful, Wicked, Insatiable and Carnal and then there are the more thoughtful ones- Shameless, Forbidden and Voracious. Some readers like both, others like one type or the other. I just like to write them all. :) Lucky me!

The last book in the series, Simply Scandalous concerns two couples- brother and sister, Richard and Emily Ross. Philip’s legitimate children. Both of them will find happiness-not with each other obviously, ;-) Emily’s love story has been growing through several books and Richard’s is just beginning. I’m very happy with that book too although the complexities of wrangling two loving couples nearly made me tear my hair out! But it was all worth it in the end.:) That one will be coming out in late December 2012, so not that long to go! I’ll have an excerpt up soon.

Much more to come this year and next-check out my website for info!

New Sale, New Name and New Genre

I’m very pleased to tell you all that I’m going to be writing a series of Regency set mysteries for Kensington Publishing!

Here’s the announcement :)

A series of Regency mysteries set in the village of Kurland St. Mary from Kate Pearce, writing as Catherine Lloyd. A shy spinster and a bed-ridden hero from the Napoleonic Wars must work together to prove that a murder has been committed in their small peaceful village and then solve the case. In a three book deal by Deidre Knight of The Knight Agency to John Scognamiglio at Kensington Publishing.

I know it doesn’t tell you much, but the first book involves our feisty heroine, Miss Lucy Harrington, the Rector’s oldest daughter and Major Robert Kurland, late of the 10th Hussars, and heroically wounded at Waterloo. Major Kurland is stuck in bed with very limited mobility and it is Miss Harrington who has to do a lot of the sleuthing in the quiet little village attached to the manor house. Think of it as Rear Window meets a young Miss Marple, and you’ll get the idea.

But don’t worry if you still prefer romances to mystery. I won’t stop writing as Kate Pearce, complete with all the naughty bits!

BLURB

The world of Theorrey runs like a well-oiled machine.

The elements are in balance, passion is tamed and the young queen
is the heartbeat of it all. But in these two all-new stories of
elemental steam, nothing is ever as it seems…

Earthly Desires
Demeter “Dare” Senedal is the Queen’s Chalice-her protector and closest companion. So when the queen goes missing,
Dare rushes to locate her, even though the search leads her straight into trouble.

A gentleman who trades in secrets and sin, Bodhan revels in carnal delights, but when a naked and bound woman appears on his shore, he finds his hunger to possess at odds with his need to protect. As Bodhan shares his knowledge of pleasure, Dare must decide if she can trust him, both with her mission and her heart.

Fiery Temptations
Seraphina always lands on her feet. After all, she is a Felidae-more feline than human-and an excellent thief.
There has never been a job Phina wouldn’t take or a man who could tame her…until she meets Cyrus Arendal.

As the Queen’s Sword, Cyrus should have known better than to fall victim to a beautiful bandit.
Now, to find and retrieve the moonfire dagger, he’ll need to convince Phina not to judge a man by his station,
but rather by how completely he can satisfy her desires.

Something old becomes something new :)

The first full-length erotic romance I ever had published in print in 2007, was called “Where have all the Cowboys gone?” from Virgin Cheek, part of the now deceased Black Lace line. Apparently, that book is hard to find in print and the digital version is quite expensive.

So I was very pleased to get an email from a new upshoot of Random House UK publishing called Rouge Romance who are going to republish this book in digital format for a much better price-and with a lovely new cover, which I have to show you below. :)

Isn’t that cool?
I’ll let you know when I get a definite date for publication, but I’m thinking they mentioned around March, April time this year.
And what is even cooler, is that they are hoping to publish the other two in the series as well!
It’s nice to see a good book get a second life-especially when it is one of your own.

A little bit more about why I decided to self-publish Educating Elizabeth
Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 5 Comments »

Sometimes you write a book and despite your best efforts, that book doesn’t get picked up by a traditional publisher. Sometimes, and especially with the first two or three books I wrote, this was a good thing. :) But while I was writing Educating Elizabeth I knew several things: 1. I’d come a long way with my ability to plot. 2. I’d written a couple of characters that other readers fell in love with and 3.that I was always disappointed that this book didn’t find a publisher. I really wanted to share it with readers as it was the kind of book I loved to read and increasingly haven’t been able to find,

Fast forward a few years and all the new e-readers burst on the scene and suddenly there was Amazon Kindle offering writers a free way to publish their own books. I admit I was skeptical about the quality of that collective outpouring of product, but I decided to try it out with a short story “The Ties That Bind” for 99 cents. To my surprise, that story sold quite well and the process of uploading it was very simple.

So this year when I had a few spare moments, I dug out my file for ‘Educating Elizabeth’ and started to go through it with the thought of self-publishing it. To my surprise, I still liked it. There was a lot to fix and trim though, but that was a good thing. :) I also got an outside editor to go through it for errors and someone to design me a cover. My aim was to produce a finished book that didn’t look as if I’d just written it and slung it up on the internet to make lots of cash. LOL. I also have severe techno fear so although I had a great self-formatting guide from Nadia Lee, I ended up asking her to format the book for me for all the different e-publishing sites of which there are four main ones (Amazon Kindle, B&N Nook, AllRomance ebooks and Smashwords who distribute to Apple, Sony and Kobo) each with different requirements.

And voila! a book!
It’s not an erotic historical like the Simply’s with lots of sex and angst, so if that if what you love, this book might not be for you :). It’s more of a traditional steamy Regency with a half-French duke who is not what he seems, and a feisty over-educated and very frank heroine who has no compunction in asking the awkward questions that most gently bred Regency ladies would avoid. There’s a plot to assassinate a member of the Royal family, codes to break and a steamy love story all wrapped up in a satisfying ending. I enjoyed writing it immensely and I hope you will all enjoy it too. :)

New digital only book out :)

I’m excited to tell you all that I have a new book out! It’s called Elizabeth’s Education and it is a steamy, not an erotic Regency romance. It is a book I am very fond of, so I decided to publish it myself digitally. And when I say by myself, I mean I had to get some very talented people to help me edit it, produce a beautiful cover and format it properly for the various digital sites. I’m extremely happy with the results. :)

Here’s the blurb :)

When Miss Elizabeth Waterstone encounters the enigmatic Duke of Diable Delamere in the most shocking of circumstances, she is determined to exploit his rakish expertise to the fullest extent. The duke agrees to teach her everything she needs to know, but in return expects to receive her unwitting cooperation to uncover an assassination plot against the monarchy. But Elizabeth is hard to deceive, and the duke finds himself needing more than her innocent skills in his bed. Together they must use their remarkable abilities, to thwart a villain, save the Prince Regent and accidentally and inevitably fall in love.

Dukes and uppity blue stockings and spies and codes and assasination attempts, oh my!!

It’s available at the various places listed below. :)

And if that doesn’t tempt you, Simply Carnal will be out at the end of January!
