SIMPLY FORBIDDEN

“Pearce’s House of Pleasure series continues with this intense, thought-provoking Regency-era novel that will cause you to ponder the events that shape people’s lives. The complex, troubled characters struggle with issues of abandonment, betrayal, trust and family relationships as they come to terms with their sexual proclivities. You get a great historical novel, a touching romance and blistering sex — with a little kink.”

BLOOD OF THE ROSE

The second installment in Pearce’s Tudor Vampire Chronicles contains more rich historical details than the first book, making it exceptional. There’s something fun about rewriting history and making memorable characters like Anne Boleyn into vampires. Pearce expertly weaves her historical background and knowledge into a truly captivating tale.

LORDS OF PASSION

This lively book collects three well-matched historical romance novellas set in England. In Henley’s “Beauty and the Brute,” high-born teens Charles and Sarah are wedded to settle Charles’s father’s gambling debts. Mortal enemies on their wedding day, they part for three years, only to reunite as strangers and experience unexpected passion. In Pearce’s “How to Seduce a Wife,” prim young Louisa March yearns to feel pleasure in the bedroom. Her husband, Nicholas, wants to help her, but doesn’t know how. Could a Mayfair madam help them? In Robinson’s delicious “Not Quite a Courtesan,” a young heiress gets far more than she bargains for when she marries into a family of swindlers short on cash but long on charm. Readers will float away on the literary flair of these escapist tales, each touched with just the right amount of eroticism.

SOME LIKE IT ROUGH

These three hot contemporary tales from three writers don’t disappoint. Each provides a titillating read and a satisfying ending. They’re all different, but they all provide a good plot with developing relationships and attractive characters. The steamy situations include menage à trois, anal sex, voyeurism, dom/sub situations and toys.

Kate Pearce has penned a sizzling tale with SOME LIKE IT ROUGH. Gulch Town could be any rural, western town in the United States, but the close-then-ripped-asunder relationship of Luke, Paul and Julia isn’t. The chemistry and unspoken desire between the three percolates until it’s a raging river ready to spillover—or split their friendship. Luke has secrets he hasn’t told his friends. Is now the time to reveal it all? And how do Julia, Paul and Luke really feel about each other? Can they remain friends in the future—or are they daring to rip their lives apart?

SIMPLY WICKED

Just when I think I’ve decided on an all-time favorite book of Kate Pearce’s, she delivers another gem. SIMPLY WICKED is an erotic tour de force about love, acceptance, understanding, and passion. With Anthony and Marguerite, Ms. Pearce has created two wonderful protagonists, and the tenderness between them grabbed my heart while their love scenes burn with intensity—a double dose of bliss to readers like myself who like both heat and heart.

Even if you’re unfamiliar with the House of Pleasure series, this story serves as an excellent introduction to the small community of sexually liberated characters living in Regency London. The romance could have fallen prey to a homophobic “conversion” narrative in less practiced hands, but Pearce writes convincingly and expertly. Add an intricate plot, vivid characters, sizzling sex and a dastardly villain for a deliciously well-crafted page-turner.

4 1/2 Stars, Michelle Wiener, RT BOOKreviews

Two deeply scarred people come together in SIMPLY WICKED, and together they merge to heal each other and fall in love. There are scenes of male on male sex, but it is the burgeoning love and sexual heat that builds between Anthony and Marguerite which makes SIMPLY WICKED a riveting read. Together they overcome the obstacles put forth in front of them and readers will know that they belong together. The sex scenes are scorchers, but without them, SIMPLY WICKED would lose the powerful impact that it brings to readers.

Sinister characters and dark moods which threaten our lovers, Anthony and Marguerite, in SIMPLY WICKED bring forth a triumph of redemption and new beginnings and a book I highly recommend readers put on their to-be-bought list.

Kate Pearce has once again delivered an emotionally powerful and highly sensual love story. Her stories touch you with their deeply passionate characters, and Simply Wicked is the perfect example. Marguerite and Anthony are wonderfully expressive in their desires for each other as well as their need to experience the darker side of sexuality. Addressing the story behind Anthony’s pain in more detail is something I would love to see included.

The eroticism in the pleasure house is sure to inspire the most delicious fantasies which are enacted by sumptuously decadent characters. SIMPLY SINFUL

SIMPLY SINFUL is emotionally and sexually stimulating, as feelings and desires are potently expressed with passionate enthusiasm.

The erotic stories by Kate Pearce are blazingly hot, yet also express heartfelt emotions throughout. Although SIMPLY SINFUL frequently depicts lusty scenes pertaining to sex, it is the emotional aspects of the story which speak just as loudly to the reader. Regardless of whether the characters are interacting with another individual or just letting their inner thoughts be known, their convincing responses repeatedly show their sincerity and even deepest wishes. Ms. Peace writes the dialogue in clearly palpable terms, making every scene so intense that the reader will physically feel the sentiments of the characters. When the moment is more about longings and dreams, you will feel their desperate anguish with potency. If sex is involved, the fervent passions will titillate and make your own heart rate rise. The sexual exploits in this story are particularly imaginative, as the often hidden cravings of the characters are played out to the fullest. Their feelings continuously surface during these encounters, too, letting the reader know exactly how they perceive the moment as being more than just about sexual satisfaction. This story is not a conventional romance, yet each scene will draw you into the extraordinarily satisfying relationship where three people must come to terms with themselves and each other. Yes, there is plenty of sex and much of it originally unconventional, but the Regency period also comes alive through their earnest emotions. Peter, Abigail and James are each unforgettable in their own way, as vivid portrayals reveal their true natures. SIMPLY SINFUL is delightfully wicked yet profoundly emotional and totally gratifying.

What makes this such an excellent book is the way the author builds each personality into a loving, caring person finally able to resolve long dormant fears. The men are able to communicate on a different level once their caring partners’ love and the answers to questions they have been afraid to ask helps them grow up. Their pleasures may be as sinful as the title indicates but the story is one of love, romance, and hope that even the worst problems can find a solution. Ms. Pearce weaves this tale with great dialogue and continuously evolving scenarios that make the pages fly by.

SIMPLY SEXUAL

Sizzling sensuality and heartfelt emotions entwine in SIMPLY SEXUAL to create a spellbinding historical.

Kate Pearce is a master when it comes to crafting steamy stories with engagingly interesting characters. From the opening steamy scene to the last compelling moment, SIMPLY SEXUAL takes readers on a sensuous adventure where sex and mysteries abound. The premise of the story is cleverly executed, as every instance is important in explaining the lives of the hero and heroine. Valentin and Sara are a most unforgettable couple, as their individual natures and beliefs make them uniquely intriguing. From their first unconventional scene in the story, this couple grabbed me with their originality and each additional meeting only intensified their appeal. Though sex is an extremely important part of this story, there are mysteries surrounding this couple plus numerous emotional issues which give the plot a realistic feel. The reactions of Valentin and Sara are always convincing and go along with exactly how I thought they would respond in any given situation. Valentin is an especially complex character, and I was captivated by his life as Ms. Pearce slowly reveals his innermost thoughts and secrets. Watching Sara flourish after becoming involved with Valentin is believably shown with potent passions and sincere feelings. Every instant of this story will be experienced by the reader, whether it engages their heart from the powerful emotions or awakens their own desires. SIMPLY SEXUAL is a noteworthy story where passions are fervent and intimate exploits are even hotter.

That aside, SIMPLY SEXUAL by Kate Pearce is one of the most arousing and enigmatic historical novels I have read this year. I hate that it ended and have since gone back and reread certain scenes. RIDING THE LINE

Get ready to go on a sizzling-hot ride with RIDING THE LINE. Kate Pearce has delivered a captivating erotic romance with an unlikely couple who will grab your heart and not let go.

RIDING THE LINE is the loosely connected to ROPING THE WIND and WHERE HAVE ALL THE COWBOYS GONE?, two other books of Ms. Pearce’s featuring Dakota’s half brothers, Jay and Grayson. What I love about each of these books is that they are so different, both in plot and in the type of people the heroes and heroines are, and yet each book blends perfectly with the other two. All three books can be read as stand alones, but in reading this book I was delighted to see Jay, Grayson, and Lauren once again. There were a few parts of RIDING THE LINE that made me somewhat curious to hear more about (my admittedly favorite characters of Ms. Pearce’s) Jay and Helen (who was mentioned but never appeared). I live in hope that Ms. Pearce will be writing stories for the brothers’ other half-siblings because I cannot bear to leave these wonderful characters behind.

RIDING THE LINE is a wonderful journey of romance, self-discovery, and passion that is engaging from start to finish. It’s smolderingly sensual, so be sure to keep a fan handy while reading. A sure-fire winner, Riding the Line is not to be missed!

Real problems are convincingly depicted by the dynamic couple featured in RIDING THE LINE, where emotions and desires frequently take center stage.

Distinctive characters and emotionally compelling storylines make any book by Kate Pearce totally captivating. From start to finish, I found myself completely caught up in what was happening to this unforgettable couple, as their complex lives and haunted pasts lead to concerns over how they should react to current situations. Ms. Pearce had Dakota and Robyn facing numerous dilemmas, and their responses to each of them is believably portrayed with an honest genuineness. Whether these two are trying to decide just where they want to have sex next or if they must come to a decision affecting their futures, there is often a deeper meaning to their comebacks. Some of the banter between them only covered up the real reasons for their behavior, and Ms. Pearce lets readers become more aware of these causes through carefully worded scenes. Any emotion associated with a situation is vividly revealed with sincerity plus insight into what a character is truthfully thinking at a certain time. Robyn starts out as a heroine who does not care about much anymore and her behavior often proves this attitude, yet interaction with the hero slowly changes her mind about how she sees herself and what she desires in life. When it comes to the sensual side of this story, Dakota and Robyn have an exceedingly lusty nature, one they are not afraid to explore. Some of their intimate moments are blazingly scorching, and each one is overflowing with a potent enthusiasm. There are several secondary characters whom have been met before, and it is delightful getting to see what was new in their lives. Sexual tension heats up the pages of RIDING THE LINE, while the emotional conflicts touch your heart.

ROPING THE WIND

Prepare to blast those fans and turn up the A/C, because ROPING THE WIND is scorching! Kate Pearce delivers an erotic tale that is not only sexy, but endearing. Jay and Helen are two wonderfully developed characters whom I fell in love with from the start. On the outside, the two seem to be complete opposites. I was delighted to watch them not only fall in love, but discover that, underneath the fronts they put on for the world, they are quite similar. I was fascinated to watch the life of a San Francisco cowboy blend with the life of a surgeon burdened by the politics of career advancement. I practically devoured this tale, so engrossed in Ms. Pearce’s book that I, unfortunately, snarled at someone who had the misfortune to interrupt my reading.

ROPING THE WIND is unquestionably blazing-hot and filled with erotic moments. That being said, I was impressed the love scenes never felt gratuitous or repetitive. Each one was incredibly sexy and subtly provided me with insight into the growth of Jay and Helen’s relationship. I admit, I was wary when Helen agreed to give up complete sexual control to Jay. Ms. Pearce quickly assuaged my fears. Jay never abuses the trust Helen puts in him and their relationship is always equal.

I Joyfully Recommend ROPING THE WIND. It’s incredibly sexy, entertaining, and at the same time surprisingly sweet. I have never particularly had a thing for cowboy heroes, but Ms. Pearce left me wanting a Jay of my own. I sincerely hope she writes about more Turner siblings; I’ll be racing to read to read those books if she does. For now, I’ll just turn up that A/C, pick up ROPING THE WIND, and fall in love with Jay and Helen all over again.

Hot and steamy describes ROPING THE WIND, where fantasies are met and emotions are frequently out-of-control.

With vividly imagined scenes, Kate Pearce brings her stories to life with enthusiastic passions and heartfelt emotions. Her characters are individuals whose lives are tested in different ways, plus always find themselves in interesting situations. In her latest cowboy story, ROPING THE WIND, both Jay and Helen have been wounded in some way, either emotionally or physically, and they must learn to overcome these lingering worries to ever find true happiness in their lives. Ms. Pearce lets readers get a sense of the deep inner thoughts which drive this couple and often make them face the reality of the situations around them. The sexual dare proposed by Jay to Helen is done with the intention of having a good time with each other, no strings attached. However, the more they are together, the more their emotions are dictated by real feelings and not just blazing passions. As their relationship evolves, they find themselves discovering much about themselves in numerous areas. The sex between Jay and Helen is extremely fervent, as their imaginations take them to new heights of fulfillment. Though this couple finds they do not agree with each other at times, their make-up sex is always totally satisfying and exceedingly creative. ROPING THE WIND has fiery sensuality interwoven with intense feelings to create a gratifying romantic story.

If I had to pick only one word to describe WHERE HAVE ALL THE COWBOYS GONE? it would be “fresh.” Simply fresh. From the very beginning of the book, Kate Pearce took me on a fast-moving journey of two strangers, neither of whom had been looking for love, who are swept up in a whirlwind marriage. I found Ms. Pearce’s book to be both sexy and utterly charming. Lauren and Grayson are both endearing characters and I was highly entertained watching the two try and out-maneuver one another. I felt connected to them both, and understood where both sides were coming from as they tried to figure out if their marriage could last. Even as the hero and heroine steam up the page, I never lost sight of the growing emotional bond between the two. I found myself rapidly turning the page in the wee hours of the morning, desperate to see if Lauren and Grayson would be able to make their marriage last.

SECURED MAIL

Kate Pearce has done it again. What a wonderful world she has created in Valhalla. How can you dislike a world where women are so important and in such short supply that the most important thing in a man’s life is to bring pleasure to his woman? I envied Douglass Fraser when she crash landed on Valhalla in the previous book in this series. I didn’t think I would envy Thea as much, but I was wrong. Working with a recently discovered alien race of hot, sexy Viking men, being the object of desire of one especially handsome man, and engaging in some rollicking, good sex, Thea is definitely the object of my jealousy whereas Sven is a new fodder for some fantasies. I really enjoyed the simple plot in SECURED MAIL. It was uncomplicated, straightforward and accomplished the goal of setting up the relationship between Sven and Thea. SECURED MAIL is a book you definitely don’t want to miss!

5 Angels, Fallen Angel Reviews

* * *

SECURED MAIL is the second story in Kate Pearce’s Valhalla series, following PLANET MAIL. The first story went very far to establish the society of Valhalla as one in which women are valued and worshipped and their men feel honored to serve them—every woman’s dream. SECURED MAIL takes that idea and twists it, showing how one woman’s dream is another woman’s dilemma. Thea has no problem with being honored by her man, but she also wants him to know that she’s his equal.

This is one of the things I like about this series. While it presents a utopia where women are valued by all men and any one of them would do anything to have one of his own, it also shows that an idea like that is impossible because being placed on a such a pedestal would eventually become a burden.

I really enjoy this series with its strong Viking heroes and headstrong, determined heroines. SECURED MAIL can be read as a stand-alone book, but for more background about the Valhallan series PLANET MAIL should be read first. I look forward to seeing where this series goes next.
