Fashion designer Lauren Redstone has been trying to break away from her abusive father for years. Celebrating a big business deal in Las Vegas, Lauren meets cowboy Grayson Turner, gets drunk and goes to bed with him. Still reeling with excitement and liquor, Lauren and Grayson get married. Six months later, Lauren boards a plane bound to her husband's ranch in Oregon. Dismayed at what she had done, Lauren assumed that Grayson would be equally happy to divorce. To her astonishment and dismay, she discovers that he wants to remain married. The arrangement they made was to spend two weekends together; the first at his ranch in Oregon, the next at her condo in San Francisco. He has the right to do what ever he pleases to convince her to stay married; she to convince him to divorce. Who will win this battle of strong wills?
I was just enthralled with the characters and the plot of this novel! Lauren has been brought up by a father who dominates everyone around him, including Lauren's mother. It takes time for Grayson to realize how important Lauren's father is in her life. He knows that he can handle Mr. Redstone because his father is also a bully, who has been married a number of times and has a multitude of children. Grayson loves Lauren and knows that she loves him as well. He wants the two of them to have the happy home life together that neither knew as children. He also wants to continue the hot, hot HOT sex that they had! So did I! Oh my, I would have loved to have been there-and I'm NOT a voyeur! Ms. Pearce knows her characters and allows them to tell their story. Where Have All The Cowboys Gone? is an incredible story about families and how they deal with each other. This was a perfect book and I was distraught when the perfect ending came. Brava, Ms. Pearce, please write another!
Vegas is where Lauren Redstone has just scooped up a coup with her company Retro Girl having been signed on to provide styling and props for a series of Professional Bull Rider commercials. She celebrates with champagne but not being used to drink and having an empty stomach at the time conspire to land her into the arms of a sexy cowboy. As the night wears on, a spur of the moment marriage with the man seems like a great idea. But the light of morning brings back all of her fears about a relationship after holy matrimony. Besides, her straight forward honest working man would get eaten alive if exposed to her shark of a father.
Grayson Turner’s wild night with a beautiful woman was not what he was expecting when he came to watch some bull riding and to do a bit of gambling. Even more shocking is the depth of his attraction to her. Wanting to make the situation permanent, he proposes, marries and wakes to find her gone.
Six months of pursuit by email later, Lauren is headed to Grayson’s ranch in Oregon as the beginning of an agreement to see who can convince whom on whether to stay married or whether to part.
This is an incredibly spicy rendition of good ol’ boy meets girl, proceeds to lose girl through no fault of his own, then convinces girl to give them a chance during which time he fends off the bad guys and they are finally able to ride into the sunset together. There are forays into the business world and a bit of dirty dealings as well as great expansion from the traditional roll in the hay. Grayson’s appeal extends beyond his handsome looks and his dedication to the physical aspects of the relationship with the heroine. Readers will thoroughly enjoy this kind-hearted and honorable cowboy.
A woman who has reached deep in order to break away to find her independence is certain to be wary of threats to what she has accomplished. Lauren is an endearing heroine who needs a bit of convincing by her hero. What one truly enjoys about her is that she is smart, funny and able to help the hero in turn as well.
Need one mention that the two get hot and heavy from very early in the book and proceed to keep the flames of passion burning steadily throughout? Lauren and Grayson’s mutual attraction and satisfaction is the stuff from which dreams are made.
Those who love their romance with a heavy leaning towards the erotic will surely enjoy WHERE HAVE ALL THE COWBOYS GONE.
Using her gift for creating descriptive images, Kate Pearce pulls readers into her passionate romance, where each scene comes alive with realistic situations. Her hero and heroine seem so believable, and they each feel like someone I actually know by the end of the story.
Grayson and Lauren are strong-minded individuals, whose rather troubled childhoods still profoundly affect their adult lives. As these two slowly open up to each other, there are numerous instances where they will find themselves questioning their decisions and what they yearn for in their futures. One aspect of their relationship which contained no conflicts was when sex is involved, often with surprising results.
Grayson is a confident and skilled lover, and Lauren is initiated into several of his delightful techniques with heated results. With each of their romantic moments being creative and fiery, their story is at times erotic but still heartfelt with earnest feelings. There is a marvelous cast of secondary characters featured in this book, whose many individual stories will draw forth a myriad of emotions from readers, from their witty actions to their hurtful remarks.
With desire and affection skillfully intertwined with compelling emotions, WHERE HAVE ALL THE COWBOYS GONE? is a convincing romance of finding love when least expected.
There's something about a cowboy, the rugged looks, outdoorsy tan and bad boy appeal. Hell, we can even overlook the dodgy fashion styling given that much raw muscle. But when Lauren Redstone wakes up after a drunken fling with a cowboy to find herself married to him, she's not happy.
Despite her protests, cowboy Grayson is less than willing to dissolve the marriage and so starts the emotional tug of war between committmentphobe Lauren and 'til death us do part-er Grayson. an entertaining and sexy read."
The chemistry between Lauren and Gray sizzles on the pages and the love scenes will leave you breathless with your pulse pounding and panties wet (unless like Lauren, you chose to forgo wearing them in order to entice your cowboy). Their happy ending was a balm to my soul.
Where Have All the Cowboys Gone? is a definitely must-read that you don't want to miss. Kate Pearce is quickly catapulting up my list of must-read authors with her easy-flowing writing style, intense, well-developed characters and creative storylines.
What an amazingly rich and engrossing story! I was hooked from the very beginning and absolutely did not stop reading until the very end. I loved how Lauren’s emotions and attitude were so easily understood by Grayson, and his feelings were so strong and reliable.
This is one cowboy you don’t want to miss! I hope to read more by this very talented author in the future.
