Moving Along

It’s three weeks into the new year and I’m feeling positive and upbeat about my writing and life generally. I’ve completed yet another manuscript, a short one at 30,000 words about a fantasy planet inhabitated by very manly descendants of the vikings who have a shortage of women on their planet…enter our heroine from Earth who sets everybody on their ears.

Now I just have to edit the thing. I snapped off half an inch of fingernail on the boot (sorry trunk) of my car one frosty morning taking the boys to school so I’m trying to type without my middle finger on my right hand which is incredibly annoying. My nails are so strong, something like this is really painful, honest!

Mr Kate, who is reading a biography of Scott the arctic explorer, made some withering comments about how one little fingernail couldn’t really be worth whinging over compared to what Scott went through. I showed him said middle finger and told him to get back to his book.

I’ve had some great reviews for Eden’s Pleasure. Only one of them was negative and since they got the story all wrong as well, I wasn’t too bothered! It’s really strange when your book gets reviewed. Some people absolutely got what I was trying to say, others had their own interesting interpretations…its so fascinating how the same words provoke such different reactions.

I’m still waiting to hear back on a number of projects and raring to go on some new ideas. I know I should wait to see what happens (or doesn’t) before I commit myself one way or the other but I know I’ve got to write something new soon. I’m probably going to start Gideon’s story next, he’s nagging me to tell it.

I’m hoping to get some of my nice and successful author buddies to let me interview them here, so look forward to some interesting blogs coming soon!

Oh…oh…OH!!!! The fingernail thing really made me wince, Kate. How awful. That can be so painful.

I’ve seen some of your excellent reviews. Congratulations. I missed the less positive one. Got one of those myself. I pout a bit, feed my face with chocolate and then move on. 😉

Kate, I have all the results from my pseudonym blog and character name blog compiled and posted, and you’re profiled there along with the other participants. This was great fun, but now I’m way behind on my blog commenting (not to mention my writing).

Big congrats on completing your latest manuscript! The story sounds sensational. 😀
